PBI NRG LP is a lightweight yet highly durable fabric for structural firefighting outer shells. This premium product combines Hainsworth’s expertise in fabric technology with PBI’s market-leading lightweight fibre to provide supreme comfort, flame resistance and chemical protection.

Hainsworth is famous for our understanding of the unique properties of fibres and how they can be combined to enhance protection – a process we call Fibre Positioning Technology.

We took the pioneering fabric structure developed for our AGILE fabric and enhanced it using PBI LP fibre, creating the ultimate lightweight structural cloth on the market – PBI NRG LP.

Born from the collaboration of these two leading brands, this revolutionary fabric has been carefully designed and woven to achieve a perfect balance between comfort and protection.

Ultra-light weight, exceptional flame resistance

PBI NRG LP is woven in a flexible twill structure that moves with the wearer. The fabric weighs only 190gsm – placing less strain on the body, reducing the risk of heat stress and helping the wearer perform at their best for longer.

PBI LP fibre has a break-open point of 1500°F, and a decomposition temperature of ~850°C. In developing PBI NRG LP, we combined PBI LP with para-aramid fibres in a tightly-packed construction that offers even more thermal stability and break-open resistance.

Maximum protection from liquid chemicals

PBI NRG LP is woven in a tight ‘gabardine’ twill (inspired by classic raincoats). Fibres are packed into the face of the fabric to enhance liquid run-off, protecting the wearer from exposure to harmful chemicals and carcinogens.

Stay safer for longer

Despite its low weight, PBI NRG LP is supremely durable. PBI NRG LP can withstand a much greater number of wash cycles without losing any of its protective qualities.

PBI NRG LP also has excellent abrasion resistance and colour fastness – helping firefighters to stay smarter and safer for longer.
